Stephen R. Sullivan 

After graduation from Thomasville High School, Stephen R. Sullivan matriculated to Vanderbilt University, where he earned a degree in Political Science and served as Attorney General with the Vanderbilt Student Government Association.   During college, Mr. Sullivan spent a semester studying abroad, was a counselor at Camp Ozark in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, and served as a legislative intern--both in the Washington, D.C., office of the late Senator Strom Thurmond and in the Atlanta office of the late Senator Paul D. Coverdell.   Mr. Sullivan was also active in his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi

Immediately following college graduation, Mr. Sullivan returned to Georgia and attended Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 2001. 

During law school, Mr. Sullivan completed a practicum with the Thomas County District Attorney’s Office and worked in a Birmingham, Alabama firm which specialized in the defense of county school boards.  Mr. Sullivan later went on to accept positions, first as Law Clerk and later as Associate, with the prestigious Macon firm of Sell & Melton, LLP, where he focused primarily on business litigation.  Mr. Sullivan worked with Sell & Melton, LLP, until his return to Thomasville in 2005. 

Mr. Sullivan is admitted to practice in all Superior and Appellate Courts of Georgia and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.  He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Bar’s Section on Real Property, and the Thomas County Bar Association. 

A supporter of community organizations, Mr. Sullivan is a past Board member of Thomasville Christian School, the Thomas Area Soccer Association (TASA) Futbol Club, and Thomasville Landmarks, Inc.   Mr. Sullivan currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the Lawson Neel Med Bank and the Thomas County Food Bank.  Mr. Sullivan is also an active member of Thomasville First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Sullivan’s practice is focused in the areas of real estate; probate and administration of decedents’ estates; estate planning; guardianships and elder law; civil litigation between businesses, individuals and beneficiaries of estates; business entity formation and advice; contract and settlement negotiation; collections; and bankruptcy.  Mr. Sullivan also accepts appointed criminal defense cases and served as a Special Assistant Attorney General (SAAG) representing Southwestern State Hospital.

When he is not practicing law, Mr. Sullivan enjoys coaching youth sports, Bible study, cycling, golf, snow skiing, travel and spending time with friends and family.
